$\frac{5x - 4}{8} - \frac{x - 3}{5} = \frac{x + 6}{4}$

$\frac{5x - 4}{8} - \frac{x + 6}{4} = \frac{x - 3}{5}$

$\frac{5x - 4 - 2x - 12}{8} = \frac{x - 3}{5}$

$\frac{3x - 16}{8} = \frac{x - 3}{5}$

$5(3x - 16) = 8(x - 3)$

$15x - 80 = 8x - 24$

$15x - 8x = 80 - 24$

$7x = 56$

$x = \frac{56}{7}$

$x = 8$

Answer. x is 8.
