Answer:the story took place in USA where the feeling of racism between blacks n whites were strongly believed in 1960s. the story begins as six humans were trapped by chance in bleak and bitter cold.each  of them were having a log in their hand.

the first man who was a white did not put his log in use as he saw a black round the fire .she hated the presence of the black man .he suffers from racial prejudice.the next man wasdifferent in religious sects.he saw that one was not from his church.therefore,he refused to use the log.the next was a poor man who sat in tattered clothes.he gave his coat a hitch.he finds an opportunity to take revenge from the rich.the fourth man was a rich man who thinks of his wealth he had in store,and how he can keep it safe from the poor who he thinks was lazy n idle.the black man's face bespoke revenge.he was having a strong grudge against the white..the last of this forlorn grp was a very calculative man .he gives only to those who give something to him in return.

the six humans died with logs held tight in their hand the poem is a proof of human sin.they did not die frm the bleak n bitter cold .they died from the cold within
