(a) Food is essential for the growth, development and maintenance of the body. A balanced diet provides raw material in the form of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, roughage, etc, in appropriate amount for the proper growth and functioning of the body.

(b) Besides personal hygiene, health also depends on our surroundings. If our surroundings are unhygienic, we are likely to get infectious diseases.

(c) Stagnant water is source of many water-borne diseases and a breeding site for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are vectors for many diseases such as malaria, dengue, etc. and flourish in stagnant water. Hence, our surroundings should be free of stagnant water.

(d) Human beings live in societies, which determine the social and physical environment Social harmony and good economic conditions are necessary for good social and mental health. Further adequate earning is necessary for being able to get balanced diet and better living.conditions.Good economic conditions are necessary for the treatment of diseases as well.
