I read 2/9 of a book on Friday , 1/3 of it on Saturday and the remaining 160 pages on Sunday . How many pages are there in the book ?

Let x be the total number of pages on the book.

2x/9 + x/3 + 160 = x

(2x + 3x)/9 + 160 = x

160 = x - 5x/9

160 = (9x-5x)/3

160 * 9 = 4x

40 * 9 =x

x = 360

Number of pages of he book = 360

Total number of pages in the book = 309.  

Let us consider the total number of pages in the book is x.

Total number of pages covered on Friday =\frac{2}{9} \times x

Remaining unread pages after Friday =x-\frac{2 x}{9}=\frac{7 x}{9}

Pages covered on Saturday is =\frac{1}{3}\left(\frac{7 x}{9}\right)=\frac{7 x}{27}.

Total number of pages covered on Sunday = 160.

Therefore, the total pages covered from Friday to Sunday =

\frac{2 x}{9}+\frac{7 x}{27}+160=x

13x + 4320 = 27x  

14x = 4320

x = 308.57 rounding to 309.
