Hey!

Let the book contains x pages.

In a day pages read= 3/8 of x.
= 3x/8.
Remaining pages= x-3x/8.
= (8x-3x)/8.
= 5x/8.

In another days pages read= 4/5 of 5x/8.
= 20x/40= x/2 .

Remaining pages= 5x/8 - x/2.
=( 5x-4x)/8.
= x/8.

Also Pages remaining= 30.

So x/8 = 30.
x= 30*8.
= 240 pages.
The book contains 240 pages.

Hope it helps.

Answer:

Let the total pages be 'x' in number.

According to condition 1:

3/8*x read on first day.

So remaining pages will be :

1-3/8*x

=5/8*x

According to condition 2:

Read 4/5 of remaining

So left unread =1/5 of remaining

Therefore remaining at last=1/5 * 5/8*x

=1/8x

Unread=30

Therefore:1/8*x = 30

>> X=240.

Therefore total page is 240
