Hi there!
Number of pages read on 1st day = 4/9 of total
Number of pages read on 2nd day = 3/5 of the remaining
∴, 5/9 = 3/5 + 100
So,
⇒ 2/5 × 5/9 = 100
⇒ 2/9 = 100
⇒ 1/9 = 50
So,
Total pages =
⇒ 9/9 = 9×(1/9)
⇒9 × 50
⇒ 450
∴, there are 450 pages in the book.
To check:
⇒ 4/9×450 = 200
⇒ 5/9 = 250 (450-200)
⇒ 3/5 × 250 = 150
⇒ 2/5 = 100
⇒ 200 + 150 + 100
⇒ 450
Hope it helps you!!

check with the answers
So he read 4/9, so remaining is 5/9
Next day he reads 3/5 of the 5/9
So 2/5 remaining = 100
So, 5/9 = 3/5 + 100 or not??
