I read 4/9 of a book one day and 3/5 of the remaining next day . if 100 of the book were still left unread, how many pages did the book contain.

1. Let x be total no.of pages in book
2. Given 4x/9 and 3x/5 pages were read out and y be remaining pages. hence total pages will be (4x/9)+(3x/5)+y=x
3. on solving this we get y=2x/45
4. given 100 of the book were still left unread i.e,2x/45=100
5. x=2250 which is total no.of pages
