I recently found out about the placebo effect and did some basic research on it. My question which I did not find the answer to online is, if know a specific medicine is a placebo and it doesn't actually contain stuff to cure me, will it stop working or will it still work? If anyone is knowledgeable in the subject please answer. Please no spam or copy paste.

Your Question is a good one.
But, the is answer is 'NO'.
You aren't going to be cured just by thinking that You are totally Fine!
Humans do need medicine and things like (therapy etc) to be cured.
Basically, Placebo effect is just so you get cured fast.
Hope This Helps..!!

Hi!
I'd like to establish that the intent of 'placebo' medication is to evoke a psychological response in the subject. That means that it has no medicinal properties, as described in your question.
When you reveal to the patient/subject know that the medicines they are consuming are not functional, the medicine is no longer a placebo! This is because it will no longer generate the desired psychological effect in your patient as he/she is aware that the medicine is not working.
In conclusion, a placebo medication remains as one so long as the patient is unaware of its nature.
Hope this helps! Do let me know if you need further clarifications :D
