An indirect/reported speech is speech being told to a third person. Modifications are made according to the tense form and pronouns.
I said to him ,"I do not think you are working hard" He replied,"You are quite mistaken , I am working very hard."
Reported/Indirect Form: I told him that I didn't think he was working hard. He replied that I was quite mistaken and added that he was working very hard.
Here, in the direct speech, the sentence is in Present Continuous. In reported/indirect speech, it will change to Past Continuous. Modifications regarding the pronouns and prepositions are made accordingly.
Hope it helps :)
