ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When the reporting clause in Direct Speech is in Past Tense , there will be a change of tense in reported clause in Indirect Speech.

As in Direct Speech of the given sentence, Reporting clause is in Past Tense and the reported clause is also in Past Tense, so in Indirect Speech, the reported clause will be in Past Perfect Tense.

Again, in the Direct Speech of given sentence, there is a time clause i.e., YESTERDAY. The time clause YESTERDAY will be changed to THE PREVIOUS DAY or THE DAY BEFORE in Indirect Speech.
