Let the cost price of 1 article be x

Find the selling price of 1 article:

16 articles = cost price of 20 articles

16 articles = 20x

1 article = 20x ÷ 16 = 1.25x

Find the gain:

Gain = 1.25x - x = 0.25x

Find the gain percentage:

Gain percentage = gain/cost price x 100

Gain percentage = (0.25x / x ) x 100

Gain percentage = 25%

Answer: The gain percentage = 25%

Answer:

hence the gain % is 25%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let s.p of 16 articles = c.p of 20 articles  =100

S.P of 1 article = 100/ 16 =6.25

C.P of 1 article =100 / 20 =5

gain = S.P-C.P

          = 6.25-5

              = 1.25

gain % = 1.25 × 100/5

            = 125 / 5

                = 25%

hence the gain % is 25%
