i) So let the way winds up the hill or down O'er rough or smooth, the journey will be joy; still seeking what I sought when but a boy. New friendship, high adventures, and a crown

Original poem :-
Life
Let me but live my life from year to year
With forward face and unreluctantly soul
Not hurrying to, nor turning from the goal
Not mourning for the things that disappear
In the dim past, nor holding back in fear
From what the future veils; but with a whole
And happy heart, that pays its toll
To Youth and Age, and travels on with cheer.
So let the way wind up the hill or down
O'er rough or smooth, the journey will be joy
Still seeking what I sought when but a boy
New friendship, high adventure, and a crown
My heart will keep the courage of the quest
And hope the road's last turn will be the best.

About the poet :-
Henry van Dyke (1852 - 1933) was born in Pennsylvania. A nature lover and
avid reader, he earned degrees from Princeton then served as a
Presbyterian minister for more than 20 years. (He was considered one of
the best preachers in New York City.) He eventually returned to Princeton,
where he spent nearly 20 years as a professor of English--with a bit of
service as the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg and the Netherlands in
between. A writer whose talent extended to many different genres, Henry's
best known works are probably the lyrics of the hymn "Joyful, Joyful, We
Adore Thee" and the Christmas stories, "The Story of the Other Wise Man"
and "The First Christmas Tree."
