This poem actually highlights upon the important issues of children belonging to the poorer sections of society.

The poet named Guy Farmer highlighted about the important issues of social injustice being made to impoverished sections of society and people.

This boy (whose reference we have got in the poem)is not happy as he finds his brother(or may be brother-like) to go off to school. On the other hand, he himself wants to go to school but cannot go.

His daily life activities are entirely different. He  has to look after cooking activities which is signified from the words "boiling pot" that he had to put on a stove and he would have to work hard in order to bring shine to the floor by scrubbing it hared while washing.

He would also have to do other works like cleaning the window, and education was not a reality for him.
