I stopped,horrified, I was in a room. I know and did not know. Why did narrator feel horrified?

Narrator feels horrified in her tracks and she saw room and felt she apparently did not know what to do in the important aspects.

Narrator found herself amidst the things that she did not want to see again.

The narrator could not determine whether she has it against the different aspects in much more efficient manner.
