.(i)T he  age  of  the  father  is  twice the  sum  of  the  ages  of  his  two  children .After  20  years  his  age  will  be  equal  to  the  sum  of  the  ages  of  his  children. Find  the  age  of  the  father.

age of child 1 = x

age of child 2 = y

From the given information, we can form the below equation,

2(x+y) + 20 = x+20 + y+20

2x + 2y + 20 = x + y + 40

Subtracting x, y and 20 from both sides,

x + y = 20

Putting in above equation in father's current age,

2(x + y) = 2*20 = 40 yrs
