b) If the cost of the table is ₹ 800 find the cost of 2 chairs

A.T.Q,

x = 440 + y

or, x - y - 440 = 0

or, x - y - 440 = 0-------(i)

∴x - y - 440 = 0 is the required linear equation

From eq(i),

x - y - 440 = 0

Put x = 800,

or, 800 - y - 440 = 0

or, 360 = y

∴y = 360

∴2y = 2 *360 =720

∴ The cost of 2 chairs is ₹720
