Let the numbers be x and y

According to our question :

x - y =  26 ----(1)

x = 3y-----(2)

substitute equation 2 in equation 1

3y - y = 26

2y = 26

y = 26/2

y = 13

substitute y value in equation 2 to obtain x value

x = 3y

x = 3 (13)

x = 39

SO THE TWO NUMBERS ARE 39 AND 13
