Solution

Given-

  • The number of boys and girls in a class are in the ratio 7:5.
  • The number of boys is 8
  • more than the number of girls

Find :-

  • Total Number of student

Exlanation

Let,

  • Number of boy = x
  • Number of girls = y

According to question,

==> x : y = 7:5

==> x/y = 7/5

==> 5x - 7y = 0__________(1)

Again,

==> x = 8 + y

==> x - y = 8___________(2)

Multiply by 5 in equ(2)

==> 5x - 5y = 40________(3)

Subtract equ(1) & equ(3)

==> -7y + 5y = - 40

==> -2y = -40

==> y = 32/2

==> y = 20

Keel in equ(1)

==> 5x - 7 × 20 = 0

==> 5x = 140

==> x = 140/5

==> x = 28

Hence

  • Total Number of students in class will be = (28 + 20) = 48 .
