Heavy rain and strong wind that intermittently lashed the capital city on Thursday brought trees crashing down at different locations. Power supply was also disrupted at a couple of places due to broken power lines.

Till 8.30 p.m. the city received 15.6 mm of rainfall. Widespread rain and isolated heavy showers have been forecast in the State for the next 48 hours.

At Mudavanmugal and Kunnukuzhi, trees that fell across the road caused traffic disruption for some time. An electric post got uprooted at Kunnukuzhi, disrupting power supply to the area.

At the parking lot of the Thiruvananthapuram railway station, a tree fell on some cars, damaging them. One person was injured on the Medical College police station premises when a tree got uprooted on Thursday morning.

A power line snapped when a tree fell on it at the All Saints College-Veli road on Thursday morning. At the Vettukad-Veli road too an uprooted tree caused traffic jam.
