According to me Ruskin bond was liking this pool as it was a symbol of there friendship .He liked the pool because the three friends were enjoying very much in the rusty's pool and doing various activities together including wrestling, buffalo riding etc.....Thus we can say that it was the pool that brought them together more than anything else .
