You should have written the survey content here. The background regarding consumer courts could also be mentioned. Then you could ask regarding ways to improve. If there is no foundation at all, it is not correct to blame someone for not constructing a house on top of it.
Expecting the world to respond in 10 min. for a personal research work is unreasonable. That is your work and you should do it.
Prepare a Consumer survey as in here? Circulate it among known persons. Take their responses and analyse them. Check the way consumer courts function. You could find ways to improve.
1. What products do you use at home?
2. What products do you use at your workplace?
3. Are you satisfied with the products? If not, what are the reasons.
4. Did you make use of the following or other similar services from a private or government organization?
5. Did you complain about the unsatisfactory products or services? To anyone?
6. Do you know about the consumer courts?
7. Are you aware of the consumer protection act 1986 of India ?
8. Are you aware of the world consumer protection day (WCPD) that is celebrated on 15 th March ?
9. Do you read the terms and conditions written on the products, for example medicines, snows, talcum powder packs, suitcases, clothes, soaps, cold drinks etc?
10. Do you agree with the terms that they write? If not please mention anything that is important and odd.
11. Do you know about consumer courts?
12. Do you know about consumer protection councils at the central, state and district levels?
13. Do you know about central, state and district level consumer disputes redressal forums ?
14. Do you know that Consumer courts and dispute redressal forums are contactable through web sites?
15. Do you know that their fees is minimal ? They take up cases and give judgements within a short duration (well, as quick as possible)?
Consumer courts:
To write about improving consumer courts spend some time at the courts. Read and research on the consumer forums. Read complaints and their resolutions or reasons for their pending status.
Education regarding consumer courts and redressal forums should be given during the school education, for example during 10-12th stds. Forums and courts should take up a survey regarding the number of un-filed complaints.
Often many consumers dissatisfied with products do not go to these forums because it is tedious process, involves some costs, requires time and effort and the uncertainty of the judgement.
Perhaps the consumer redressal forum should also function through some media or like a workflow system through a website. There could be some student ambassadors to these courts from various schools during a few days. That will improve the functioning of the courts. Unemployed graduates could be given paid apprenticeship in these consumer courts. Students will also learn about the forums.
Perhaps a magazine could be started by the consumer courts. They could list the proceedings, issues that are faced by consumers as well as the courts. For a year or so they could circulate these among consumers or libraries. Then awareness will be more. Now when a consumer finds a problem with a cold drink, what are the proofs that the consumer could show? Certainly he/she is not aware. Further time limit for resolution of the case could be known in advance, then consumers will be in a better position to approach courts.
Fixed consumer courts perhaps are not so accessible. Mobile consumer courts would be a good solution. For example, law students could conduct awareness camps in various rural areas or urban areas to educate the consumers. Are the courts approachable in rural areas? The courts should have a mobile division, that will conduct sessions in different parts of the city or district during each month or two.
The main issue in consumer complaints is the proof of the problem faced. There should be complaint forms available with each product outlet. These forms should be designed by the court. Thus the complaints will be authentic and as needed by the courts. Often the seller could be avoiding the trouble. Avoiding corruption is to be given an attention. A peaceful out-of-the-court settlement could be encouraged.
The consumer courts and forums should involve senior students, unemployed youth and retired persons. Students and youth will learn and contribute towards a better consumer-supplier environment in the market. Thus positively contributing to a better economy. The maturity, experience and wisdom of retired persons could guide towards improvement in relations and easiness of solutions between consumers and sellers/manufacturers.
What Mahatma Gandhiji said about consumers is the motto to follow for any organization. Consumer is not dependent on the provider. Provider is dependent on the consumer. Consumer and his requests are not an interference to the organization. Consumer is the duty, work, responsibility, destination and aim for the organization.
