number of valence electron in outermost shell is the valency of electron. for example electronic configuration of carbin is (2,4) that means the valency of carbon is 4

sps6: plese give valency of potassium
Anonymous: electronic configuration of potassium is (2,8,8,1) therefore valency of potassium is 1

for example carbon has 6 atomic number then the valency = 8-4 = 4 because if the in the last she'll the number is greater than the 4 we mins it from 8.
magnesium has 12 atomic number then the valency is 2 because in the last she'll has 2 no.
