As long as there is life, there will always be challenges to overcome. A challenge can be turned into an opportunity when we try to overcome it. It may be the challenge of learning to walk, or challenge of learning to speak, we have to keep trying to make any challenge an opportunity. Covid 19 pandemic lockdown came as a very big challenge to all the mankind; there has not been any continent, country, society, and city that has not been affected by this pandemic.
Life came to a standstill; factories, offices, schools, colleges, were closed down by the orders of Governments. People became confined to their houses. I tried to take this bull of lockdown by its horns. After having spent a few days of lockdown in trivial activities, I realized I could not afford to waste my precious time in idle activities.
I set certain goals for me viz. health goal, knowledge goal, and self-improvement goal.
Health Goal
Health is wealth. In order to take care of this invaluable health during the lockdown, I made a physical exercise regime. In the evening I would do physical exercises consisting of skipping, jumping, stretching exercises along with a few yoga asnas. When the relaxations in the lockdown were allowed, I began going for 5 kilometer long an evening walk. This improved my health considerably. Not only was my physical health at its best, but mental health also.
Knowledge Goal
Covid 19 pandemic lockdown posed a serious threat to my knowledge and studies; however, I prepared to keep this threat at bay. Though the schools were providing online education, yet I planned to corroborate my online learning with self-study time-table. Since lockdown provided me considerable amount of leisure time, I resolved to make best use of this time in self-improvement. I made a list of some classic and self-help books to read them in my free time. I didn’t allow myself to be tempted by TV or mobile phones. I felt a unique confidence and contentment after I had read just a few books.
Self-improvement
Apart from reading classic books, I practiced meditation and mental yoga. I read a book on meditation. I practiced all the breathing, mind-calming, and tranquility inducing techniques. I was amazed at the wholesome effects I began experiencing. As a result of meditation and mind-calming activities my life was filled with hope and new purpose. First time in my life realized how meditation and yoga cleanse our mind of negative thoughts and feelings.
I would not have been able to extract so much out of life, if the challenge of Covid 19 had not come. I have realized this truth that in every challenge is the opportunity to achieve greater things in life. We should not get scared or cowed down by the challenge looming in front of us. Challenges are blessings in disguise; they bring the best out of us.
