I've been told by many of my pen-friends from South-India that they have been insulted when they arrived in the North. People made fun of them because they're black and laughed at them whenever they spoke their native language. Some of them even wrote to me that they were called 'Kaalaa Rakshasha' or black demon by the locals.
Is language a thing to laugh at? Why are people in India obsessed with fairness? Is being black a bad thing? Why does this racism prevail? Why don't they realize that their stereotypes are destroying them?

P. P. S. - I'm NOT trying to insult my fellow northerners. I do NOT hold this true for all of them.

This is certainly not a way to treat fellow southerners. People from North just don't understand Tamil and thus tend to make fun of them.
Language is the best thing on earth according to me. Different languages show culture.
India is obsessed with fair skin. This has prevailed from ages. This is mainly because in books and paintings etc., princesses and queens have been portrayed to look fair while lower class have moderate looks. Thus people are more attracted to a fair skin tone. Even beauty advertisements have encouraged this sh*t. They portray fair people to have more happiness which is just incorrect
Being black is not a bad thing. It's the way you were born. Black is just a skin tone, not a personality type
Well this all has started from ages, it's a long way to go until people understand this.
