There is nothing grammatically wrong with it. However, if you are bent on making corrections, you could add 'the' to make it 'the witnesses', but that is unnecessary. It does not change the meaning or structure of the sentence drastically; so, you can let it go.  

In simple words, the sentence means that the person has spent six hours interrogating witnesses, but still does not know anything more than what he already did before the interrogation. He is not any wiser than he was earlier. The phrase 'none the wiser' indicates that even though extra information has been given, it is of no use and the person has not understood anything from it.
