I waited outside until the boys rejoined me, then drove them back to the city.. they sat beside me not speaking. for my part, i did not say a word. a) where did the narrator wait for the boys? b) why did the boys not speak? c) why did the narrator remain quiet?

The narrator waited outside the hospital until they returned. They boys didn't want the narrator to know their secret. That's why they had not invited to meet their sister, Lucia. The narrator didn't want to hurt their feelings by talking anything about their sister. Besides, he was reflecting over their greatness, devotion and selflessness and the strength of their spirit.
