(I)With centre A and radius more than 1/2(AB) draw the arcs on each side of AB. (ii) With centre B and same radius draw the arcs on each side of AB, which cuts the previously drawn arcs at X and Y. (iii) Join XY which cuts the line segment AB at O. Thus XY is the perpendicular bisector of AB.
