Hey there!

Answer:

i) 3/5

ii) 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

3. i) Given,

In ΔABC,

DE ||  AB.

Now,

CD / CA = CE / CB (Basic Proportionality Theorem.)

CD /  (CD+AD) = CE / (CE + BE)

Putting values,

(x+3) / (x+3+2x) = x / (x + 2x - 1)

(x+3) / (3x+3) = x / (3x-1)

(x+3) (3x-1) = x(3x+3)

3x² - x + 9x - 3 = 3x² + 3x

8x - 3 = 3x

5x = 3

x = 3/5.

ii) Given,

DE || BC

AD = 3 cm , DB = 4 cm , AE = 6 cm.

Now,

AD / DB = AE / EC (Basic Proportionality Theorem)

3/4 = 6/x

x = 6 * 4/3

x = 2 * 4

x = 8 cm

Hope It Helps You!
