Answer:
Kill la Kill is a hot mess of cliches and plot armor. But pulls off some cool moments and great characters as this is Studio Trigger biggest asset. Studio Trigger presents another incoherent story line into the anime pool of bad plots, but manages to sustain itself thanks to the cast of cliched but very diverse characters that will probably bring you a lot of joy just from watching them interact. In old Studio Trigger fashion just like Little Witch Academia (LWA) the cast of characters start off as "frienemies" and evolve into a family of sorts with strong performances by their VA's. But unlike LWA the story is even more confusing than the latter. Its filled with lots of plot armor, cliched moments, lots of mumbo jumbo talk and becomes boring to the eyes of someone who was waiting for much more. LWA story line is nothing to write home about, but it does its job. Unlike Kill la Kill. Where the story keeps changing from "im here to avenge my father" to "im the ultimate weapon" to "aliens" its like Studio Trigger was trying to make an omelet with every ingredient they could find and stitching it together anyway they could. The direction of the episodes is really good, my hats are off to Hiroyuki Imaishi, for providing the direction the episodes needed, from scene transitions to characters being shown in a certain prespectives, just to emphasize their larger than life attitudes. The music is really great as well, every character has its own little theme song and before you know it, you find yourself looking up the ost and jamming to it! But sadly the cast, characters, direction and music arent enough to save it. To the anime fan that has no sense of a good story line and settings this anime will satisfy your needs, throwing lots of action, blood and every sexual innuendo under the sun. But to the anime/non anime fan that wants more than just sex jokes and bloods of pool gushing everywhere you wont find what your looking for here. Can i recommend this just for the cast and characters? Maybe. But in that sense it would be easier to recommend LWA since its way easier to diggest than Kill la Kill. 5.5/10 Great Direction, Voice cast, music and strong characters, but suffers from an incoherent plot, cliches and unnecessary jokes and scenes. Give it a chance at your own risk, and when you do remember to shut your brain off and lower your expectations.
This show is absolutely crazy, over-the-top, utterly ridiculous, and I love it with all my heart!! It's definitely not for everyone, but for anyone worried about the nudity, you get numb to it in the first couple episodes, and afterwards, main focus is on Ryuko(the human equivalent of a tornado haha .
