The pollution and dirt in the surrounding areas also has contributed to the pollution of River Ganga. Now under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, a cleanliness drive named ` Swach Ganga Abhiyan' has been initiated not only to clean the river, but also to create awareness among people to preserve it without pollution, and to save the river from drying up in the future. This has come as a blessing for those who worship `Mother Ganga' and also it is a national wealth which is cited even in the history of India.
