Food web is an interconnection of food chains which shows how plants and animals are connected to each other. It is similar to food chain but it is larger than food chain as it is the interconnection of many food chains into one picture. Consumer- resource system is the another word  for food web. Ecologists divides all the life forms into two categories : autotrophs and heterotrophs.
