Beta decay is the process through which unstable atoms can be more stable.

there are two types of beta decay.
1. beta minus decay 2. beta plus decay.

here is an example of beta minus decay

the b-decay of carbon-14.
here a neutron of carbon is converted into a proton and the emitted beta particle is an electron.
