When the rain water get mixed with some strong acids such as HCl etc. then this leads to the formation of acid rain. The smoke from some industries containing these acids mixes with the clouds and form acid rain. The ph (a scale used to check the acidity) scale shows the pH value of acid rain to be less than 5.6

When this acid rain flows into rivers, it lowers the pH of river water. The survival of aquatic life in such rivers become difficult.
