The distribution of people according to their occupation is called as structural occupation.in india about 64% are engaged in agriculture and 13% in secondary sector followed by 20% in tertiary sector.many people shift there occupations from primary to other sectors.this is because of growing urbanisation and industrialisation.

Occupational structure means the distribution of working population among different occupations.
there are 3 types of occupational structures.

1.Primary occupational structure : it includes the people working in agriculture, mining, fishing and other linked activities, it is about 60%

2.Secondary occupational structure : it includes people working in industries both large scale and small scale. it is about 20%

3. Teritary occupational structure : it include banking, hotels, computers, defence ,education etc.. it is about 20%.
