Nearly all of it. A banana tree is not a tree at all, but a large herbaceous plant. And the banana itself, while certainly a seeded fruit, can also be classified as an herb, particularly if the bananas are sterile.

In southeast Asia, the inner portion of the rolled up layers of the “trunk” (leaves) are considered a delicate salad vegetable, and the tender core of the stem is highly prized. The outer part of the leaves are also of course used to steam meats and vegetables in.

The peel is edible also, but probably not as is — it’s fibrous and bitter. But you can fry, bake, or boil the peel to make it palatable.

The banana itself is what we eat most often, and it has a great many health benefits, but nearly the entire plant is edible.

Observations of a hybrid banana and a local banana.

Explanation:

  • Local Bananas are known as Cavendish Bananas.
  • Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana are 2 wlide species of banana. From the mismatched pairing of these two species, the hybrid banana Musa × paradisiaca is produced.

  • The hybrid banana is bigger in size (more than 8 inches) and also sweeter than local banana. The length of local banana is around 4-11 cm.
  • Hybrid banana contains very less seed. But local banana more seed then hybrid banana.
  • Hybrid banana’s color is raw reel and the local banana’s color is yellow.
  • The hybrid is produced by doing some genetic changes in local banana. So hybrid banana is not that much good for health. Local banana are not genetically modified so it is good for health.
  • Hybrid banana is more acidic then local banana.
  • Both types of banana contain good nutrients
