Like the question says, debates offer “different perpectives but no unifying common solution”. Debates are usually meant to end in a vote, not necessarily a solution. And the vote is not always a solution either, just look at what happened in America, they had to choose between the devil and deep sea.
Coming back to debates, despite all the screaming and quarelling, there will be someone who will have an interesting perpective or insight to share. TV debates are for viewers to better understand what a particular party thinks of an issue. Which is why we usually see party spokespersons speaking on behalf of their political masters.
For example, some people had no clue who Yogi Adityanath is. So when television debates took place, BJP spokespersons explained his merits and the logic behind the decision to anoint him as the Uttar Pradesh CM. There were representatives of Congress and left parties pushing their arguments about why he is not right for the post. It helps viewers form a certain opinion about the candidate.
For someone who already knows enough about the subject of debate and has a decisive opinion on the matter, they would obviously not profit from viewing it. But not all viewers know things about the subject at hand. And for some it's just entertainment.
It's important to have debates. Maybe the channel won't offer you an enlightening perspective. But it compels many to think about the issue, debate it with their own friends and family. And I suppose that is a pretty great thing - that debates make people think about things and question the system.
