The Marxism argues that the fight among social groups, especially the bourgeoisie and proletariat or workers, determines economic ties within a capitalist system and is bound to lead to revolutionary communism.

The 3-component theory of stratification, also known as Weberian stratification or the 3-class system, was developed by German sociologist Max Weber with status, power, and class as distinct ideal types

Explanation:

  • Marxism divided human history into 4 phases: Feudalism, Capitalism, Socialism and Communism. Accordingly we are now in the capitalistic stage. Marx claimed that workers are less needed and therefore earning lower pay as mechanization and automation increase.
  • The society thereby is split in two 'classes': the capitalists who own and control factories and the proletarians who do not own anything and become poorer and poorer. Hence, the poor has nothing  to lose by inciting a revolution, and the system breaks down
  • After this, society first becomes socialist, that is, all capital belongs to the State. At this point, there are still distinct states. Eventually, the state is superfluous and the capital is a collective possession of the people. Here we are in the Communist process at this stage, and everybody is content.

Weberian Ideology

  • Weber developed a multidimensional approach to social stratification that reflects the interplay among wealth, prestige and power.
  • Weber claimed that power may assume a variety of different forms. The power of a person may be expressed in the social order by his rank, by his position and his economic order, and by the political system via his party. Race, status and class are also all facets of power sharing in the society
  • Class, power, and status have a great deal of impact within their individual areas and a great deal of impact over the other areas, as well.
  1. Wealth: Comprise property such as lands, factories buildings, houses, farms,  and as well as other assets – Economic Situation
  2. Prestige: Th respect with which a perso/status position is concidered by others – Status Situation
  3. Power: The capacity of people/groups to accomplish their goals inspite of opposition from others – Parties
