I want to know about rheostat briefly

rheostat is a device which can be used as variable resistance and constant resistance both. it contains a slider and three socket in which at one pole circuit for variable resistance is present while other two is used for constant resistance

it is used to control current they are able to vary the resistance in in a circuit without resistance
