Usually elements themselves dont show amphoteric behavior however their oxides or other compounds usually that of metalloids and some 13th group elements like Aluminum, Gallium, Indium and Thallium show amphoteric behaviour,

The most brilliant example is of their use in making hydrogen gas from reaction of Aluminium Oxide with Hydrochloric acid as well as with Sodium Hydroxide (a strong base).
