I want to know how longitudanal waves oscillates in the direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation

no u r wrong it is in case of transverse waves the oscillations is perpendicular to the direction of propagation
u can refer to the cork and water experiment
on surface of liquids the wave is tranverse
when u drop the cork in water u find ripples going in all directions but the cork moves slight up and down in the same position
