26. (B)

(i) The number 825642 rounded off to the nearest thousands is 826000, because the number right to the thousands digit, i.e., hundreds digit, is greater than 5, so we have to increment thousands digit followed by trailing zeroes.

(ii) 4023 and 198 are estimated as 4000 and 200 respectively. Hence the product will be 800000.

(iii) C = 100, X = 10 and I = 1. Therefore, CXXXI = 100 + 3 × 10 + 1 = 131.

27. (C)

Well, 8 is the thousands digit in the greatest number and ones digit in the smallest number. Hence the difference will be 8(1000 - 1) = 7992.

The greatest number is 8530 and the smallest is 3058.

28.

(I) Hundreds digit is 5 without followed by trailing zeroes. So rounding off 2560 to the nearest thousands, we should get 3000. Hence the statement is false.

(II) True.

(III) 1 lakh = 1,00,000 while 1,000 thousand = 1,000 × 1,000 = 10,00,000. Hence it's false.

(IV) Smallest 4 - digit number is 1000 and its Roman Numeral is M. Hence it's true.
