in the plant cell due to osmosis and respiration, cell becomes turgid.....
due to pressure on the cells it have the chances of bursting.....so to prevent that cell wall is necessary... it prevents the cell from bursting and damge due to its rigidity and power to bear the stress and pressure...and it also provides shape and structure to the cell.....
