Homeless by vikram seth
The 1st stanza tells us about thee person, the narrator envies. The narrator says that he is envious about the people who have a luxurios living in their own houses and are blessed with the feeling of security taht comes from the sense of living in a place that 'is theirs alone'.The narrator ,on the otherhand has had to endure the uncomfortable feeling of living in palces belonging to strangers who probably give only their half-hearted consent as they agree to his staying in their houses .This,he says that he has been staying in plight for the past few years and it would probably remain in that way for a few more.
The 2nd stanza says about what the homeless narrator wishes would happen in the future. The narrator wishes to have a palce of his own from where he would be able to see the changing seasons year after year. He wishes to be able to lie in complete repose in his own abode and derive peace of mind form the thought that even if he dies, his things would not pass into the stranger's hands, but would remain with the people who he loves.
