Show MoreWhen I consider why I want to become a teacher it is difficult for me to pinpoint specific reasons. This is because becoming a teacher is all I have ever wanted to do. I spent many days as a young girl creating lessons and playing school. At the end of the school year when teachers would throw out their books with lesson plans I would take them home, read them, and use them in my “classroom”. Specifically, I want to become a teacher because I realize that not every child has the same life at home and I would like to create a safe, comforting learning environment for all students while they are at school. Spending time with children and watching them learn offers such fulfillment. Seeing students grow in knowledge and skill is one of my favorite things. While in school it was easy to pick the teachers that held their job because of their desire to see students learn. I had teachers on both sides. After my wonderful second grade year I had a teacher that spent her time handing out worksheets and busy work while she sat in her desk. Looking back at her teaching style I am very aware that she did not have the desire to see us learn. To her it was just a job.
Mentioning that particular teacher leads me into the fourth reason I want to be a teacher. This is because I think that some teachers do not always offer the things students need and I want to be one that does. I don’t want to be a teacher that simply just does what it takes to get by. In fact I want to replace one of these teachers in the system. It is crucial that teachers have a passion for teaching and I absolutely do.
The final thing that motivates me to be a teacher is the impact teachers had on me in school.​
