here's ur answer...
correct answer is CONJUNCTION.
what is conjunction??
=> CONJUNCTION is a word which merely joins together sentences, and sometimes words.
let me give u some examples:-
1. God made the country and made the town.
2. our hoard is little, but our hearts are great.
in the first sentence and is used and in the second sentence but is used to join the sentences.
=> CONJUNCTIONS also join together sentences and often make them more compact.
like:-
Ram and Shyam are good bowlers. (in short)
Ram is a good bowler and Shyam is a good bowler.
=> sometimes CONJUNCTIONS joins only words.
examples:-
1. two and two make four.
2. Hari and Rama are brothers.
=> CONJUNCTIONS must be carefully distinguished from relative pronouns, relative adverbs and prepositions. these are also connecting words.
example:-
1. this is the house that Emily built (relative pronoun)
2. this is the place where he was drawing (relative adverb)
3. take this and give that (conjunction)
in the 1st sentence, the relative pronoun that refers to the noun house, and also joins the two parts of the sentence.
in the 2nd sentence, the relative adverb modifies the verb was drawing and also joins the two parts of the sentence.
in the 3rd sentence, the conjuction simply joins the two part of the sentence. it does no work.
IT WILL THUS SEEN THAT:-
★ relative pronoun and relative adverbs also join sentence but they do more work.
★ conjunction merely joins, they don't do any work.
=> some CONJUNCTIONS are used in pairs as:-
→ either, or - either take it or leave.
→ neither, nor - it is neither useful nor ornamental.
→ both, and - we both love and honour her.
→ whether, or - I don't care whether you go or stay.
there are more such pairs...
CONJUNCTIONS which are used in pairs are called correlative conjuction or correlatives.
hope now u can understand what and how to use conjunctions. there is much more about CONJUNCTIONS but I think it's enough for u.
hope this helps..!
