Lol this story might be super lame, but yeah, give it a shot..I guess.
It had all started two days before my exams had begun.I was busy preparing for my annual exams. I was determined this time to show what I got because the previous time wasn’t something I was very proud of. Anyway, it didn’t matter. What I do now, matters. So with such attempts at trying to motivate myself, I pressed on. Little did I know that none of this would matter in the next quarter of an hour.
The phone began to ring as I was going to get some milk. I grabbed the jug and ran awkwardly towards the phone as I was close to missing the call. I picked it up. At first, I couldn’t sense anything other a tense atmosphere which I thought I was probably imagining with all the static, but then the voice spoke. “We got your sister. Alive for now. You don’t do as directed, I might start worrying if I were you. Take the package kept outside your porch. Go by it. Hope you make a wise decision. Cheers.”
It was a recorded message. But either ways, I don’t think I could have uttered a word for a good 5 minutes. I felt like my whole world had just collapsed. The caller had hung up. I stood there in disbelief, not knowing what to do. I kept the jug aside and made my way towards the door. I opened the door and stood facing the porch. It didn’t take me more than a few seconds to spot a bright red package, all covered in fluffy bows. I went towards it and picked it up. I noticed my hands were having the jitters. I couldn’t even put on a pretense of handling it strong, atleast to focus properly. I nervously untied the bows and ripped the paper open to uncover a lustrous black gift box. I didn’t give time for my mind to get itself entangled with all the morbid thoughts. I opened it as soon as I laid my eyes on it.
A smiley. “You are easier than I thought. Happy April fool’s Day, brother !”.
I honestly lost it. I rung my sister up as I soon went inside and screamed at her. All I could get in return was her sisnister laugh. “Now I’ve won as I told. Don’t forget my gift.”
