I was opening a bottle of tincture iodine .Some iodine fell on my yellow cotton shirt and also on white table cloth. The stain on the table cloth was yellow-brown while that on my shirt was blue-black.The most possible reason is for that

Your shirt might have starch on it.Iodine turns bluish black on reacting with starch.
