I was solving an question
THE ELECTRIC FIELD THAT CAN BALANCE A CHARGED PARTICLE OF MASS 3.2 * 10 '-27 KG IS
OPTIONS
But i cannot figure it out so when i looked at solutions they solved as follows
E=M*g/Q
so why they took accelaration as g?
HOW UNDER G THAT PARTICLE IS STABLE

Answer:

a)

Electric force on a charged particle of charge placed in electric field of magnitude is given by,

However, this electric force balances the weight of the electron. So,

Here, is mass of the electron andis acceleration due to gravity.

Solve for

Substitute for,forandfor

As the weight of the object directed downwards, the direction of electric force must be upwards. As the direction of electric force on negatively charged particle is opposite to the direction of electric field, the direction electric filed is downward.

Hence, the magnitude of electric field isand direction is downwards.
