I was travelling by bus and so I did not expect anything queer to happen. Everyone rides the bus, and so far, nothing odd has been reported to happen.
And so, as I sat there, on the bus, waiting for the bus to take me to my destination I never expected something as odd as this to happen!
A little child sat next to me, she seemed to be about the age of five, licking her lollipop, wide-eyed with energy and curiosity as to the people on the bus. I tried to look away from her, I looked at the window.
But I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned to see her waiting for me expectantly.
"Yes?" I enquired, pondering on what on Earth she would want to talk about with me.
"Do you want some of my loli?" She inquired, offering it to me with a wide smile.
I chortled, smiled, and told her that although it was a tempting offer, I didn't want some of her 'loli'.
I once more turned to the window and watched the cars that we passed, only to feel another faint tap on my shoulder.
"Sir?" She enquired once more.
"Yes?" I demanded.
"Where are you heading off to?" She asked, obviously not aware that passengers on a bus don't usually ask these sorts of queries.
Yet, who am I to deny a child a simple answer?
"The last station," I replied and she smiled at me.
"Okay, me too!" She answered with a wider smile than before and licked her lollipop.
"No, you must go off with your parents. Where are they?" I enquired, wondering why this child is left unattended.
"Oh, I left them at the bus station." She answered as if it wasn't odd at all.
"Then you must go back and fetch them." I declared, not believing that this child is still on this bus. She needed to go back to her parents as soon as possible.
"No, sir, I'd rather head off with you." She replied.
I shook my head, took her hand, and got off at the nearest station, taking her with me.
We got on another bus, heading back to where we were a few minutes ago, probably where she left her parents.
"Why are you so worried?" She enquired, unaware that I was apprehensive of the amount of trouble she may be in.
"You must never leave your parents," I stated but she didn't seem to listen. Instead of that she got off at the next station and left me wondering if she ever found her parents in the end.
Or if she is still lost somewhere, out there.
