i) What is the stress in a wire which is 50m
long and 0.01cm in cross section, if the
wire bears a load of 100kg?

As stress is basically pressure and we know that P = F/A
So put F = m g, here m = mass while g= gravitational acceleration = 9.81 m/s^2
A is area which can be calculated by multiplying 50 with 0.001 , so work this out
